Joy of Medicine Challenge—Finalist Pitch Competition!

Keynote - Restoring Physician Job Satisfaction
Christine Sinsky, MD is the Vice President of Profesional Satisfaction at the American Medical Association.
Geneia's recent "Physician Misery Index" discovered widespread job dissatisfaction among physicians in the United States. Specifically:
  • 87% of physicians believe the ‘business and regulation of healthcare’ has changed the practice of medicine for the worse
  • 84% of doctors believe quality patient time may be a thing of the past
  • 67% of those surveyed know a physician who is likely to stop practicing medicine in the next five years as the result of burnout. A majority of doctors (51%) admit that they too have considered career options outside of clinical practice
  • Overall, the nationwide Physician Misery Index is 3.7 out of 5, indicating that scales are tipping from satisfaction to misery
Dr. Sinsky will discuss the causes of this dissatisfaction and ways that physicians can restore satisfaction and joy to the practice of medicine.
