The Fit Mind Challenge is an open call for solutions to support cognitive function in an aging population. These solutions can be technologies, apps, sensors, policies, awareness campaigns, education initiatives (including provider, patient and public education) or other connected health solutions.
Advances in medicine have the promise to extend lifespan to 100 years or beyond, yet with age often comes cognitive impairment. Dementia affects approximately 2.4 to 5.5 million Americans. Its prevalence increases with age, to 5% in persons aged 71 to 79 years, 24% in those aged 80 to 89 years, and 37% in those older than 90 years. Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is less severe than dementia, and often goes undetected. Estimates of the prevalence of MCI range widely, from 3% to 42% in adults aged 65 years and older.
Partners HealthCare Connected Health, in collaboration with MedTech Boston and Medstro, are excited to bring you our latest innovation challenge, “The Fit Mind: Supporting Cognitive Function as we Age.”
Anyone can submit an idea. We want to hear from everyone who has potential solutions to support the cognitive function of an aging population. This means not only healthcare professionals, but also engineers, scientists, thinkers, entrepreneurs, inventors, family and friends of patients and patients themselves should feel empowered to submit your ideas.
Simply submit your idea at the contest submission page. Voting is crowd-sourced (encourage your friends to come and vote for you!). The Official Judges will also vote after the submissions deadline.
We’re looking for interesting, innovative, and relevant ideas that support cognitive function in an aging population. Please see the Awards Tab for details.
No, your submission can be purely at the idea stage. You don't need to have started a company, or have a prototype, or have an IRB approval already. Just explain your ideas/plans in the submission form.
You may edit your entry up until the submission deadline. Just hover over the "gear" icon on your entry and click "Edit Post".
Yes, you can submit as many ideas as you like.
Sorry, due to the regulatory issues surrounding drugs and supplements, we will not accept submissions dealing with these.
Four finalists will be chosen to pitch their ideas before a packed audience on the main stage at the Partners Connected Health Symposium on October 20. Three of the four finalists will be chosen by crowd voting and the evaluations of the online judges, while a fourth "wildcard" finalist will be chosen by Partners Connected Health.
Whether or not you're selected as a finalist, if you submit an idea you and a guest will get free admission to the Final Pitch-Off Event in October. Note, this does not include admission to the entire Partners Connected Health Symposium, only to the final pitch-off event of the Fit Mind Challenge.
