Make a Difference with Youth! Become a Tutor-Mentor in South Minneapolis


Rediscover the joys of reading by volunteering as a Tutor-Mentor with PPL’s afterschool youth programs! We help students from low-income communities succeed in school through engaging activities in a positive environment that’s full of laughter and smiles. PPL Scholars in South Minneapolis is a tutoring and mentoring program for students in grades K-5 th living in PPL housing. The program location, Collaborative Village Initiative (CVI), is a supportive housing site serving families transitioning from chronic homelessness. Volunteer Tutor-Mentors are matched 1:1 with a student to support social and academic growth through literacy tutoring (50 minutes each night), relationship-building, enrichment activities, and service learning. Choose 1 time block and 2 days from available program times: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays | 5-7pm, 5:30-7:30pm, 6-8pm Now-May commitment. Required training before starting at program.
