Support High Schoolers. Become a BUILD Academic Mentor!
Looking for amazing Bay Area volunteer opportunities? BUILD is an innovative, college preparatory program, whose mission is to use entrepreneurship to excite and propel disengaged, low-income high school students to college and career success. VOLUNTEER AS A BUILD ACADEMIC MENTOR! BUILD ignites the potential of youth from under-resourced communities through experiential learning. Academic Mentors provide academic advising, counseling and support to our 11 th grade BUILDers. Academic Mentors will have 15-20 minute, one-on-one check-ins with students. This will involve reviewing grades, helping students establish priorities, action steps to meet their goals, and conversations about college and career passions. The time commitment is one evening a week for one school year (September - May). Here are some details on what a mentoring commitment looks like: Location: Redwood City Time commitment: 2 hours (5:30-7:30pm), once a week (Tues or Wed) Session runs: September 2016 - May 2017 (with winter and spring breaks) Training and resources provided Get started!
