Technology has played an essential role in the advancement of healthcare. Within Neurology, the most vital advancements have made it easier for the initial evaluation and assessment to be completed in a timely and effective manner. As the healthcare landscape evolves, many systems are tasked with providing better patient care with fewer resources. As a result, many smaller facilities do not have the resources to staff a neurologist 24 hours per day. By placing Smart Glasses in smaller community hospitals, we would have a Neurologist on call to evaluate and assess emergent neurology patients for three facilities. Although video-conferencing has been used successfully in smaller hospitals, Smart Glasses offer an effective, real time method for the assessment and evaluation of patients. This project would reduce delays in patient care, offer access to patients in rural areas, and reduce transfers to larger facilities, keeping patients in their communities and reducing cost.
