Teams of Paramedics in the pre-hospital emergency setting must evaluate their patients rapidly, often under adverse conditions. They use their intuition and experience to combine patient presentation, history, demographics, vital signs, EKGs, etc, in order to develop and
execute a treatment plan. Typically the last step of an emergency transport is a short radio notification that the patient is inbound followed by a verbal transfer of care.
The proposal is to develop a mobile app that would be used following patient contact in order to alert the receiving hospital, and to transmit/update all data captured by each member of the team (from multiple input devices) including GPS location. The hospital would then be able to oversee treatment using video, text prompts or other alerts to the medic. The user interface will emphasize buttons, dropdowns, etc for faster input. Voice activated event logging is desired. The ideal app would pull data from existing and future medical devices.
