Wearable technology can more efficiently coordinate communication and task completion between patients and healthcare providers. If a patient has requests for their nurse, they can select their needs from a predetermined smart-list using portable technology. This app will create a streamlined workflow for staff by ordering the patient requests based on patient condition, history, and level of care then communicate this to the nurse via a wrist-born wearable. If the nurse is busy, they can forward the patient request to a central nursing station and if other staff is available they can help the patient. A unique feature of this application is that it promotes teamwork between nurses. Nurses can keep track of how they’ve helped their coworkers with patient requests and data can can be used to reward team work and timely task completion. This application of wearable technology will increase patient satisfaction and engagement, provider satisfaction, and increase timely task completion.
