Patients with complex medical conditions often see a various specialists in addition to their primary care physician. It is understandably difficult to coordinate care as healthcare provider communication is difficult. multidisciplinary clinics are helpful though they are not always available and are often time consuming.
Using Google Glass, primary care physicians could consult specialists in real-time while they are seeing complex patients and generate a plan of care together. This use of technology will lead to increased patient understanding and synergistic care by giving specialties and the primary care physician the chance to dialogue about would work best for each patient in real time. This also has a very useful application in rural areas where patients have to travel considerable distances to obtain care.
