Thank you for sharing anecdotes from your training experiences! Your perspectives on how the culture of academic medicine has evolved over the years are extremely valuable to those of us who are brand new to the medical field. Several important topics, such as overt vs. implicit biases and work-life balance, were brought up yesterday. We will be sure to revisit these in the upcoming days.
For today, let’s shift gears and focus on specific pathways that lead to leadership roles in medicine. We are very fortunate to have several panelists who are leaders in their respective fields. Please describe your leadership role and tell us a bit about how you came to hold your current position. What qualities or credentials made you a suitable candidate for the job? Were there any resources or faculty development programs that you found beneficial?
