In May of 2013, Andrew Cuomo, through the New York State Department of Health, required every hospital in the state to develop and submit for approval a plan to focus EGDT toward patients presenting with symptoms consistent with severe sepsis. Countless hours were spent in development, implementation and training to comply with this mandate. As you may imagine, the results have not been stellar. How does this study affect New York State hospitals and is there any data to be gleaned to help assist these hospitals into better caring for their patients who present with or develop severe sepsis.
