One might argue that one benefit of early screening is that it gives a family time to decide whether or not to continue on with the pregnancy. Does the test become any more reliable (fewer false positives) as the level of fetal DNA increases in maternal circulation and pregnancy progresses? I suppose the question really is whether or not the timing of the test has been optimized yet.
