More flexible work schedules have been cited as a means to combat workplace burnout. However, a flexible work schedule often demands that some work be done from home through such means a telemedicine, etc, and can be associated with feelings of being overwhelmed due to the need to accomplish a lot of work in a 20 hr work week. Have you personally experienced or could you fathom situations wherein a flexible work schedule may actually increase physician work-life stressors that could contribute to burnout?
