Therapeutic Hypothermia has been used successfully in the past as means of neuroprotection after cardiac arrest. It has also been studied extensively and used in patients after ischemic strokes. Several animal studies have been conducted to assess the effects of Hypothermia on neurons. Most of these studies were done in animals with either focal or global brain ischemia. What are the effects of hypothermia on tissues at molecular level in general? Are there any animal studies that investigate the effects of hypothermia on tissues after brain death?
