Good morning and welcome to the NEJM Career Conversation on how funding may impact the future of the physician-scientist. Over the next 10 days I will post at least one question per day to facilitate discussion with our excellent panel of featured guests. However, I encourage others to join the conversation as well.
In the past year we have seen a tremendous expansion of individual fellowship awards within the NIH. What funding opportunities are available at the NIH for junior physician-scientists? What changes, if any, do you foresee to career development grants in the next 2-3 years, and how do these opportunities impact the long-term career development of physician-scientists?
