Mental health services are underfunded and recipients underserved. One quarter of all Americans experience a mental health issue each year and the majority of patients receive inadequate care. The stigma and expense of mental health care are high barriers to entry. We propose mobile applications that facilitate access and compliance to mental health therapies. These tools provide easy entry for those who are unfamiliar with mental health practices and supplement existing therapeutic regimens.
DataDog Health is developing the Mindset app for stress and anxiety management. Mindset measures stress with wearable heart rate monitors and provides evidence backed therapies to manage it. It promotes self-care with exercises inspired by cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness based stress reduction and positive psychology. Mindset applies a Fitbit model to mental health by tracking where individuals experience anxiety and which exercises are most helpful for managing it.
