A recent JAMA paper, “Reanalyses of Randomized Clinical Trial Data,” demonstrated reversed findings in one-third of RCTs reviewed. Irreproducibility hinders the delivery of optimal medical care for patients and leads to waste of precious health care dollars. We propose Aedos, a clinical informatics platform built into electronic health records (EHRs) that will ease RCT replication. Aedos will identify eligible patients, enable real-time randomization, securely store data, and provide statistical support. We aim to disseminate verified findings and to ensure transparency in the research process. We believe we can create value by instilling a culture of academic medicine at all clinical enterprises and create accountability in the dissemination and implementation of clinical research. Aedos will decrease time to result verification and ensure medical dollars are spent in an evidenced-based manner.
