The authors argue to eliminate the annual preventive visit. But most experts recognize the value of counseling patients regarding cancer screening options, vaccinations, modifiable cardiac risks, etc. So I see a disconnect here. If you were to eliminate the preventive visit, what would then be your vehicle to discuss the panoply of recommended health maintenance issues with your patients, and are you prepared to say that your replacement mechanism would be superior (or any less expensive for that matter) to the traditional annual visit?
