As medical technology is bringing new data to the medical field there is a need for a streamlined way to update best practices and patient management. A significant way that the primary care model can be made more efficient is to collect information through an interactive application and begin the diagnostic process before a healthcare provider even meets the patient.
The chief complaint, history of present illness, and review of systems can be effectively collected from the patient via software. Ideally, this software would learn through experience and improve over the years as the medical algorithm is strengthened with clinical studies and established protocols. Software with such comprehensive information collecting and processing capabilities would relieve the primary setting workload burden from redundant information collection and improve patient management with the most up to date guidelines incorporated into suggested diagnostic and treatment plans.

I come from both a technical and clinical background. I will graduate medical school this spring, and currently consult EHRs as I used to work at Epic HQ.
