Sensors and wearable data need to have scientific rigor. Simply having a new device doesn't exempt it from being evidence-base. In addition to developing actual evidence via large clinical research trials, I need useful data from sensors via accurate analytics. I don't want a million points of clutter. Having these two core elements would help. I would propose large multicenter randomized clinical trials among the patient population most likely to benefit from sensors, those acutely ill. Validation, head to head trials with existing hospital monitors. Demonstrate that new sensors can detect with similar accuracy to nursing obtained vitals, telemetry vitals.
