One area of debate recently related to gene editing has been whether parental decisions regarding gene editing of a human embryo that becomes a future human child need to include a discussion of consent. Some say "no" because at least in part we do not worry about lack of consent from a future child when an adult chooses to have any child. They further add that how can an individual who doesn't yet exist give consent? On the other side, some has said that this lack of consent needs to at least be discussed. I myself am not sure what to think on this issue. I would value your opinions.
