Good morning everyone. Thank you for your comments so far. In the words of Dr. Pallin, "The case for stewardship in abscess treatment is dead." This study confirms that TMP-SMX works, which is good news given how mild a drug it is (and cheap). Looking down the pipeline, are we concerned about resistance? Based on my limited knowledge and research, MRSA has remained universally susceptible to TMP-SMX. Is it possible (or probable) to see resistance develop, especially with increased use? Additionally, TMP-SMX resistance is already a problem in E. Coli; can we expect this to get worse when using the drug for MRSA?
