Question special

My father, who graduated from a private medical school in 1970, says that his tuition was ~$2500 during his last year of med school. In inflation-adjusted dollars, that would be $15,344 in 2016. However, Harvard's medical school tuition for 2016-2017 will be $58,050. He asked me to ask if anyone on this forum could help him understand why there has been a nearly 400% increase in tuition?
