To start this discussion, I'd love for the authors and experts to talk a little bit about the major advancements within the transplant field that predated this study. How did we go from rejection being an insurmountable problem within the field to being able to transplant kidneys from HLA-incompatible donors and still see a substantial survival benefit? What were the discoveries that made incompatible live donation seem like a possibility worth investigating? What were the major missteps along the way?
