My name is Tzu-Ying Chuang, and I’m a MD/PhD student at the University of Virginia. I’m looking forward to moderating our discussion on this topical article in NEJM on the use of acetaminophen in children with asthma. In this prospective study, the authors find that, contrary to current medical consensus and literature, administering acetaminophen to children with asthma does not exacerbate their asthmatic symptoms. Congratulations to Drs. Sheehan et al. for their finding that will impact clinical treatment of child asthmatics.
I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our group of experts who will help us further understand the details, as well as the implications of this study. The use of the Medstro platform is particularly exciting, as the open forum will offer everyone, regardless of background knowledge, the opportunity to ask questions and encourage discussion. I encourage our guests to ask questions- don’t be shy!-and anticipate excellent input from our authors and experts.
