UAB APSA’s monthly Physician Scientist Social Hour (PSSH) is an event series intended to create a forum for physician scientist trainees at all stages to meet, network, and collaborate in a relaxed environment, thereby, creating a cohesive UAB physician scientist community. This month focused on internal medicine and infectious disease, hosting eight such faculty. The first 15-20min of each PSSH is structured activity, which this month entailed “speed interviewing”, later followed by unstructured social time. Questions were provided to participating faculty who then interviewed rotating attendees/students for 2min at a time. The goal of this activity was both to serve as an ice breaker between faculty and students as well as to give students practice with interview-like questions. Following "speed interviewing", students and faculty hung out and socialized for the next hour, discussing science, humorous anecdotes, etc.
